My family is also experiencing the terrible side effects of Avelox.. Don't take this medication. Drink lots of fluids and be careful of tendon problems. Why Bayer would distribute such a terrible drug I do not know. It can cause problems with the first dose. My mom took 11 doses and is having severe back pain, burning in her thighs and lower legs as well as tendon pain (Avelox can cause spontaneous tendon ruptures), as well as muscle pain, and bone pain. It also causes flu like symptoms (chills and body aches), headache, altered taste, itchy skin. The pains come and go (like they cycle) and sometimes the side effects takes months to years to do away. My mom is a mess from this medication, it is also causing her acute depression and sleep problems. Before taking avelox she had none of these problems, now they won't seem to go away and she has been off the medication for 9 days. Good luck
