| Started taking Avelox on Wednesday. Noticed I was jittery so I started taking it at bedtime. I never had any prior problem with antibiotics before. I am extremely tired and have some lower back pain. I think last night's pill is my last. | |||

| Took my first pill 4 pm Mon. 27th. At 6:30 I noticed my hands felt odd - like they were falling asleep. Within a minute or two my hands felt like they were on fire, the sensation then moved to my face. I called for my husband who called the pharmacist. By this time I was swelling rapidly, was dizzy, nasauseated, short of breath, and struggling not to pass out. my husband gave me Benydryl and called 911. At the hospital I was given intravenous steriods and antihistamines to counter the reaction. It is now a week later and I am still not quite myself. I get short of breath very easily. I am having numbness in my left hand and arm which they believe may be due to nerve damage suffered from extensive swelling during the attack. The official diagnosis was anaphalactic reaction to Avelox. I have never reacted like this to any other medication. I have even taken other medications within the same 'family' of medicines as Avelox (Cipro) in the past with no problems. | ||
