| I haven't read any posts stating so, but does anyone else here wake up with the absolute nastiest taste in their mouth? I'm convinced it's the Avelox, because I didn't have the problem before taking it. I had a similar reaction to an antibiotic called Biaxin, which left a taste in my mouth like I was sucking on quarters. So maybe I just have a weird sensitivity. I also have had panic attacks while on this med. Haven't had a problem with that for quite a few years so I'm attributing it to the Avelox. | |||

| It was mentioned that Avelox left a bad taste in the mouth similar to the taste of pennies or something. Avalox is a sulphur based drug, thus the taste of sulphur in your mouth isn't not abnormal. I experienced the same taste and I've just had my 3rd dosage. Re: Panic Attacks and strong meds like Avalox I was diagnosed with panic disorders about 8 yrs ago and I remember that I became hyper-sensitive to changes in my body. Including even the slightest dizziness or chest tightening. A doctor prescribed me some anti-depressants once and after taking the first pill I had a panic attack outside of my highschool cafeteria. The anti-depressant caused an accelerated heart rate and a generally weird feeling and that was enough of a stimuli to provoke a panic attack. So I hypothecize that perhaps your panic related to ingesting Avalox is likely the same type of scenario. I suggest you ask you doctor for a milder prescription as strong medications tend to set off or act as a trigger for those panic attacks or panic related symptomes. I don't know what avenues you've pursued related to panic attacks but a few good ones are; T'ai Chi (meditation in motion), Open Focus therapy (meditation - helps a lot with relaxing and getting rid of tunnel vision), Bio-Feeback therapy, Cognitive-behavioral therapy, Cognitive therapy (see Self-help section of your local library or bookstore). Don't know if this will help but I tried all of these along with some sessions with a local psychiatric nurse and psychologist and in the past 7 years I have had a grand total of 3 full blown panic attacks. The cognitive therapy thing is really cool cause you can work at your own pace and you are in control. That's my 50 cents! | ||

| I am on my third prescription of this medication and I have a bad taste in my mouth and the inside of my mouth feels like it is swolen. I did notice I had trouble sleeping when I first started taking the drug. I then started taking it in the mid-afternoon; no trouble sleeping. | ||

| Hi My pharmacist said I may have a taste of quarters. So it is true. However I stopped taking the stuff, I am suffering from terrible back pain from it. | ||
