I just tried Abilify for about 3-4 weeks. I eased onto it and eased back off. I couldn't sleep--or if I could, it was broken up in a series of little 2 or 3 hour pieces. The problem is that I've now been off of even the little dose I finished with and I still can't sleep. I don't know if it's the anxiety and depression I usually have to deal with that's causing it, some last bit of the medicine in my body, or whether it's changed my sleep patterns for good. I have the impression from a couple of times waking up that the problem may be sleep apnea--which I now see somewhere that Abilify may cause to worsen. I sure hope this is temporary, because I'm getting very tired and very depressed. I'd be very, very careful with this stuff. Has anyone else had a similar experience after going off the stuff? I did have all the jazzed-up restlessness that others describe while on it, which is why I went off.

yes, things will get better. i was on and off of abilify for three yrs, and i've been off for three months now and my sleep patterns have returned to normal, that's not saying it will take you three mnths but just hang in there things will get better.

My son was on abilify for about 2 months, started at 2.5 mg and went up to 10 mg. Went slowly off it, now on Risperdal, which he was on before trying abilify. He has tourette syndrome. He has been back on the Risperdal for about 2 weeks, but his tics are OFF THE WALL. Does anyone know how long the abilify stays in your blood? I feel so bad for him. His tics are so much worse now, I'm wondering if the abilify has caused his tourette to be worse for good. I hope not!
