I have been using benicar for approximately 2 months with a noticeable drop in BP. I have also lost some 27 pounds which probably contributed to the lower BP also. I did not notice any side effects such as dizziness, but I was a little lethargic for a while, but that has mostly gone away and I now feel like exercising more.
I do like to have a glass or two of wine at night, but I noticed after I began taking the Benicar, that one glass was enough and now I only have a glass once in a while. I was on a water pill but the doctor cancelled that shortly after I began taking the Benicar. Overall, I believe the Benicar has been beneficial to my blood pressure reduction with little side effects. Hope this information is helpful.

I was taking Benicar and had lots of edema. Dr then put me on Benecar HCT, still have edema, in fact more so. I am tired all the time, have severe leg pains from feet up to above my knees. I was also taking Lipitor and had to quit that because of severe pains. Then pains subsided, and now they are starting again. First my Dr said to take a duiretic with the Benecar. Being on other meds, I asked if could give me something with both BP and Duiretic in one and he prescribed Benicar HCT. I am a pak/day smoker. Of course told to quit. I am a very nervous person and taking antidepressant for anxiety.

Afer being on Benicar HCT for about a month, my bl pressure is very high on the top number and too low on the bottom. It fluctuates in all directions. My normal BP reading for me was 130/90 and Dr said I need pills. Felt much better w/o taking any meds. Tried some other meds for BP and they just didn't agree w/me, had to stop taking them. Have a Dr appt end of Feb and going to ask Dr to take me off of BP meds altogehter and just do diet. The side effects from Benicar HCT are just not worth taking them. I am a 69 yr old woman.
