Jeannumbness in handsMay 12th, 2008Rating: 4.0000
I started taking Actonel in March 2004. Since that time my hands, one or both, get numb and/or have a tingling sensation when I am in bed.
Sometimes my hands start to feel numb at other times during the day, but mostly in bed.
I told my doctor, and she kept saying "This is not a side effect of Actonel." Another doctor prescribed a stress test, which I did not get, because my hands were not numb and tingly before I took Actonel.
Now I have stopped taking Actonel in hope that my hands will get better.
If anyone else has had similar experiences, please let me know.
Thank you.

I began taking Actonel four weeks ago... have since stopped after 4 doses. My finger tips got numb and tingly and now my skin on the fingers and hands has all flaked and peeled off. It was like burn blisters that i could pop and peel off. I also have trouble swallowing and have experienced acid reflux. I guess since I had a complete hysterectomy 15 yrs ago, and can not take hrt, this osteopenia would eventually happen. But, I take Caltrate and potassium every day. Now, I'm going to try the Helen Pensanti Osteo Support vitamins, see if they help. But after reading all these messages, I think I'm doing the right thing by quitting the Actonel.
