Two days after taking Avelox, I developed severe pain in my right wrist and hand. It was diagnosed as tendonitis. After the third dose I developed a very red welty rash that was very itchy. I then developed jaw pain, foot pain, knee pain neck pain and shoulder pain. It has been 5 1/2 weeks and I am still suffering with the tendonitis due to Avelox. I have taken tow doses of Prednisone and been on three different pain medicines. I would not recommend this drug to anyone because of the possible side affects...I was the lucky one....but could happen to others and has. Bayer Corp. had no information but to treat the pain and wait it out. I am still waiting to get into a Rheumatologist, but it is getting very frustrating. Anyone with like experience have any suggestions for treatment??

I took my first dose before bed, and I too couldn't sleep. I felt restless and itchy. I hesitate to take it again. Does the sleeplessness go away, or does it get worse. I hesitate to take it again. It was a miserable night!

I, too have had rough nights trying to sleep. I now understand where that weird pain in my foot is possibly coming from(like being hit on the bottom of my foot with a stick). Like others, I've noticed that there is no improvement in my condition. Only now, my flu/cold whatever, seems worse. No rash or other adverse reactions but, I've only been on it for 3 days.

Within one our of my first dose, I developed a small rash on my right hand...by the seventh day, I was covered with welts and bright red rashes on my legs, feet, arms and hands. At first I thought it was allergy to laundry detergent, but I realized that the new patches of rash/welts would develop within an hour of each dose. By the third day of usage, I had severe depression, would burst into tears, and had serious feelings of wanting to just die. Very unusual for me. I have no other known allergies, and until now, have been able to take any antibiotic prescribed. This one is dangerous...very dangerous.

I also experienced a nasty rash after 3 days of taking Avelox. My doc. told me to stop taking it and then to take Benadryl for the next few weeks, because the drug had sorta revved up my allergic response and the rash would probably reappear w/o it. I did not experience any pain, but it almost sounds like the drug activated "trigger points" in your body. Have you ever heard of these before? You should do some research on it. Trigger points are little knots in your muscles that can be quite painful and can refer pain all over your body. They are usually controlled or deactivated by a type of massage called trigger point therapy. You posted this message a long time ago, so I hope you're feeling better by now!

I wrote this original post. IT has been 6 months since I took the three total doses. I continue to have tendon pain occasionally, but more importantly, I am having some sort of Nervous system problems. I am having an EEG today to rule out seizures. I continue to have weird sensations and thoughs, hallucinations, etc. I am seeing a Neurologist on Wednesday, hopefully will be able to help.

Dr. prescribed avelox for sinus infection. First pill I was fine. Second pill I was dizzy, couldn't think straight and nauseated. Phoned Pharmacy told me to see if I was still dizzy in the morning. Today I was a bit. But my Knee was sore. By lunch my right wrist was very sore. Now it is evening and my whole right arm is aching. My left wrist is a bit sore now as well but not like the right. I have not taken anymore and am off to the Dr to get my prescription changed. I hope I don't suffer with the sore arm for a long time or have any permanent side effects. I will never take this drug again.

I went to this website to look up Avelox...There is one thing I dont understand, with all the people that have posted bad side effects, why didn't most of these people call their doctor and quit taking the medication?..How dumb can you be?..I never seen such a large group of stupid people in one place...
