| Since being on Abilify I feel like I have lost all emotion and ability to have "feelings." The drug has worked well for my symptoms and I will continue to take it. But I feel dead inside and extremely unmotivated and useless. I feel like my personality is gone. I have changed dramatically since the drug. I am laid-back calm and not intrested in anything like i used to be. It is definitly the drug and gets worse with each mg. increase. I was given Topamax which helped at first but now I'm back to that dead feeling again. Has anyone else had this side effect? | |||

| I had been on the a high dose of ablify and decreased my dosage because I felt that numb feeling of no personality and was put on prozac to help elevate my mood. | ||

| Yeah, Abilify is an anti-psychotic which means it's main effectiveness is in lowering Dopamine. Though this help symptoms, it will pretty much kill all your emotions and feelings. In the old days with anti-psychotics like Haldol, they called them "chemical straight jackets". It is like having a chemical lobotomy. An anti-psychotic should only be a last result but doctors pass them out like candy. You can tell them all day long that the medicine makes you feel flat and the will defend it by saying it's your illness because most psych docs are nothing more than pharaceutical reps. | ||
