I've been on Benicar 20 mg for approximately one year. I've complained to my doctor on several occassions that I've had unpleasant dreams, difficulty in sleeping, dizzy, and tired. He says this has nothing to due with Benicar and since my B.P. is undercontrol he will not switch me to a different B.P. med. I have an appointment with another Doctor, because I know the changes I've had since starting Benicar.

I've been on benicar for 2 months and have experienced the same side effects you have described. But not only have my dreams been extremely unpleasant but also I have felt aggressive to the point of feeling out of control. I've never had this until I started taking this medication. I'm calling the doctor immediately. It has lowered my blood pressure to the acceptable standards but at what cost to me mentally and physically.

don't let anyone tell you that wierd dreams are not a side effect of different b.p. meds. i've had hypertension for 20 years and have tried different drugs. various ones have caused unpleasant dreams. i spoke to my doctor about it and he agreed and advised told that by many patients. i'm on benicar now and sleeping pretty well but it does make me tired. i cut the dose to 10 mg (cut pill in half) and that has been better.
