I've had Bipolar for 11 yr's now and have been on either Zyprexa or Risperdal until 3 mo's ago. Along with the help of depakote I gained 136 lb's over the years. Since starting abilify 5 mg, I have lost 19 lb's additional effects are an increase in energy, motivation, concentration, problem solving ability and numerous others. I have genuine joy in my life for the first time in 11 year's. I had a few side effects the first week ie: headache, fatigue,hand tremors and nausea. I encourage you to give this med. a chance. Also if you have to pay out of pocket, have your Dr. write Rx for double dose times 15 tab's and take half a day, this will save you 50%.
