| I wrote in about taking Benicar and didn't finish my story. My Dr.started me on Benicar for HBP a little less than 2 weeks ago. He was trying a sample and I didn't have the side effects litature that comes with it. 2 days of being on it, I went to the ER for Vertigo and have had 3 attacks since, 4 days apart. The Vertigo started with ringing in the ears. I have gastro problems, nausea, back pain and dizziness the other days. A friend told me about her BP meds, something different than Benicar and said it causes ringing in her ears, about an hour after taking it. I checked out the side effects on the internet this morning and I couldn't have been more surprised to see the same side effects I have had for almost 2 weeks. I did not take a pill today and I will not until I see my Dr. in a week. | |||

| I was very happy to find this website. I was taking Mavic (a first generation ace inhibitor) for about a month and have extreme and continuous ringing in my ears. My doctor switched me five days ago to Benicar and the ringing is continuous. The pharmacist says this is not a side effect but it only started with the medication. I was taking a sleeping pill, but quit using it as I didn't want to become addicted. I thought I would have trouble sleeping but seem to be sleeping all the time. Have not had any other effects, but it has been a short perod of time. | ||

| Hi Lori and Shirley, I Have been on Benicar for eight months and I have always had ringing in my ears. However, the worst this is that I have stared exercising by means of walking two miles a day and lefting small amounts of dumb-bells. It seems during my exercising, my heart will not pump hard enough to circulate the oxgeny levels my body needs to keep cooled down. When I get over-heated I seem to become very light-head and feel like I will pass out, and also become over-taken by an anxeity attack. Do all blood-pressue medicines restrict the heart in terms of exercising. I am only 45 years of age and have been active all my life, until now. I have also been on Lortel and Labetalol. What do you think, the Bencair is effecting my work-outs??? My BP at rest is 120/80. | ||

| 9-3-04 Doctor placed me on Benicar 20 mg for my high blood pressure on 8-13-04 After taking it 3 day's I had a short spell of dizziness, but no furthur side effects since then. It has just now began to lower my blood-pressure so not sure if it's going to do what he hopes. Go for a follow-up on 9-15-04 so will learn then what he plan and if I stay on it??? Guess it depends on the person whether it effects you or not? Cyber Granny | ||

| Hi - You are not over-reacting! I've been on Benicar HCT (incudes a diuretic) for 2 months. I'm off of it due to side effects of ringing in the ears, joint pain and memory loss, etc. Unfortunately, there are side effects to all medications, so I'm going to, once again, do the healthy alternative - Better diet and 30 minutes of exercise a day. | Be careful about not taking your meds. I had a cousin 35 years old who had a stroke because she did not want to take her meds. She finally went back to work after 6 months. Her job is very demanding as a police investigator. | ||
