| Hi Anonymous, I have been taking Benicar for eight months, and I switched from Lotrel and Labetalol. I have lived with the ringing in my ears. I have always been active and have lost 26 pounds by walking two miles a day, and lifting small amounts of weight. I cannot get over-heated because it seems my heart cannot pump enough oxygen or blood to my body to in order to cool me down.(I have to walk in cool weather) There is no way I can walk fast or even a slow jog, if I do, I feel that I cannot catch my breath and then I go into an annxity attack for what seems to be lack of oxygen. Has this ever happen to you?? It seem the medication is controlling my heart rate. |

| Thanks for your comments. They are helpful to me as I too have experienced tightness in my chest. I have also had some sensations in my arms. This is always symmetric - in both arms at the same time. Also the chest tightness is symmetric - the same across both sides. I thought that I might have asthma as it felt like my bronchia and lungs were especially sensative to breathing in cool/cold air. My symptoms typically manifest at the beginning of my 3 mile walk and subside after a half hour or so. Good to find a fellow sufferer. I will cut my 20 mg daily dosage in half and if symptoms don't dissapear I will see Dr. and insist on switching meds. I've been on Benicar for just under three weeks and had these symptoms for the past 10 days. |

| I have been on Benicar for about 3 weeks and experienced similar symptoms for the past 10 days. The chest tightness (and for me also some discomfort in my arms) usually manifests at the start of my daily 3 mile walk. It is always symmetric - the same on both sides of my chest and in both arms. And it usually dissipates after 30 minutes or so of exercise. I plan to cut my dose in half and watch for a few days. If the symptoms do not cease I will insist that my Dr. change my meds. |

you may be experiencing an onset of asthma symptoms related to this drug check web sites pertaining to sulfa drug allergies, i don't take this drug but my relative does with no problems but I myself have been diagnosed with asthma for about 5 years and my symtoms were exactly like you describe "tightness in chest, bending down with dizziness and shortness of breath when walking" are all effects of asthma. good luck |
