AnonymousAbilify for Alzheimer's patientsMay 12th, 2008Rating: 8.0000
My mother has Alzheimer's Disease and had become completely unmanageable, getting up 8 to 12 times a night, packing up and trying to leave. She had hallucinations, was screaming and swearing(all this from a very quiet, passive, sweet, gentle woman when she was well). After only 2 weeks on abilify she is like a different person. She understands when we talk to her and she can speak sentences that make sense. Her doctor told me I was going to see a miracle after a few weeks. She is still confused and uncertain but she is like the mother we had. Thank God for this drug. I will be able to keep her at home with me for a while longer. The bad thing is it cost me 347.50 for 30 pills. With the results I have seen I will pay it, because it helps her, but I think it should be available at a more reasonable price.

i'm touched at your care and love for your mother i too would pay that price to have the one who has and still is raising me,seeing as i'm 16,i hope to whatever god i meet first that my mother were to never develope these problems...i'll tell you that a mother and father are the two best friends anyone could ever have and that alot of people just can't see it....for my mother and father i'd galdly give my life....i've always wanted to tell them this, but my sense of pride won't allow me to do so....i am sort of ashamed of myself...but i'm glad the medication helped her and glad that shes at least better to some extent :)

My father is taking abilify and we are likewise blessed by the change in him. He has no prescription coverage, but here is what we have done. Contact the manufacturer and they will help you to qualify for reduced or even free abilify. You must be vigilant because they do not seem to be very organized. But it is certainly worth the $400 a month. This has worked with almost all of my father's 12 medications Good luck.

I don't know what dosage your mother is on, but I take 5 mg and have found that if I have my doc. write the script for 15 10mg tablets and I take half a tablet, the cost is cut in half.
