| I've been on Benicar (20 mg) for almost a year, and I can't say that is been all that bad. I've seen an impressive drop from 150/90 to 115/70; but I've also dropped 35 pounds. As relates to back pain, dizziness, nausua, bad dreams, and all the other side affects I've seen mentioned, please consider the possibility that many of the people on this site could suffer from some form of stress or general anxiety. Many of the symptoms mentioned are classic signs of high levels of stress and anxiety...especially elevated blood pressure. The mere fact that many of the people posting messages or "obsessing" about side affects, are pretty anxious. Take it from a professional worry wart. Just a thought. | |||

| I have only been taking Benicar HCT for one week and I've lost 7lbs. My BP has gone from 145/110 last week to 114/76 yesterday. I have had some side effects (back pain, stomach cramps, strange (wouldn't say bad) dreams at night, and a little tightness in my chest) but I think the weight loss and the lower BP has been worth it all. My Dad died at the age of 30 from hypertension and I really don't want to be the same (I'm 31). I have tried Monopril which made me so tired that I was a zombie, then I took Dyna Circ CR that made my legs swell up so bad I couldn't walk and neither of them did anything for my BP. I'm all for side effects if something works. | ||

| Thank you for your comments....glad to hear from a level-headed Guy. My Dr. gave me samples of Benicar 20mg. today since my blood pressure is very, very high....never knew...was 210/90 a few weeks ago....nothing helped to bring it down....Dr. has given me a few meds...nothing has helped. So, will give Benicar a try. BP is 187/76 As a rule...I don't take meds. since I believe in the natural way of releasing stress...up to now, laughter has always helped...guess I should go back to that sort of medicine - combine the two. Thanks again for your input. T. | ||
