| I have been taking Benicar for 1 week and the only thing that I have noticed is that I have some nausea and frequently urinate. I will be checking my bp this week. I may have to cut the dosage in 1/2. I am 65 and do not take much medication. I would have to take a nap in the afternoon after I first started taking the medication but now do not have to. | |||

| Hi Dora, I am also taking BenicarHCT. My Doctor put me on a trial basis for three weeks. My blood pressure is down 115/56, but I have headaches and the worst symptom is my right eye is sore, it hurts to move it. I am 65 also and it was making me a little tired, so, I take it at bedtime and I wake up about 2 hours later than before, but I am not tired during the day. I notice almost everyone complains of frequent urination. Well that is because of the HCT. Before my blood pressure got really high, the only thing I had to take was one HCT each morning to maintain my blood pressure. HCT is a diuretic (Hydroclorothiazide) that removes excess fluids from you body to maintain your blood pressure. My doctor told me that, when the cells in you body fills with fluids it elevates you blood pressure, BenicarHCT is designed to rid you of excess fluids. | ||
