I have been taking Actonel now for 3 weeks and for some back pain and tiredness, I have had no side effects from the drug. I take 35mg once a week. I am concerned with all the other women and there side effects. Is this a safe drug?

Hi, wrote a majorly-long comment on this site, which may not be printed; however, in that comment, I did "not" note "back-pressure" which is different (in my sensation) than back-pain. It "is" in the lower-back, and I do "not" like that. It "may" be the drug working. The fact that there are no-negative sites is worrisome...it is like looking for negatives on multi-level-marketing-plans (as if the co.s have someone deleting those accessible responses). You are probably, like many of us, trying to do things the "natural-way" although we don't have many "guideposts" for building-up our bones. Worrisome would be "adding to bone" v.s. not being able to "build-up" our own...worrisome would be "how many" doctors got a blood calcium level (as suggested in the Actonel paperwork)...(mine did not...and I am lactose intolerant...one would think "my" blood calcium level "might" be something to check on...and...how many women taking Actonel do "not" have a high enough blood-calcium-level and "are" taking Actonel...Perhaps (?) "we" are the ones with the negative comments. Best thing for our age-group is "overall skepticism"...think that will benefit us all...going down-the-road-to-reach-(wehope) 120 years." (some casework I read had Paget's pts taking a day for a short period of time...you have to wonder about the dosages, and if for any reason 35mg/1 pill/wk is "too much" for some of us more senstives. "Keep searching the web" for comments...we have to educate ourselves (my p.caredoc is in her 40's. C.
