| My husband was diagnosed with bipolar recently. He was started on geodon and that medication did not help his psychotic symptoms associated with his manic episode. He was then started on abilify and has shown a vast improvement. He is back to work, thinking clearly, has been able to sleep but has not complained of being overly sleepy. I believe this medication helped bring him back to me along with Depakote and caring doctors. I am a registered nurse and also wanted to add to those who have had bad experiences that unfortunately not all medications work for all people and that is why follow up with a dr and understanding the possibilities is so important. Medications do have side effects for some people, but if a medication has a chance to change your life it may be worth a try. Unfortunately there isn't an exact answer to everything right away, but I hope if people are thinking about abilify they will at least talk to their doctor to see if it may be good for them to try. |
