I have been on many other migraine med, over the counter and prescriptions till one of my doc's had me try axert, it has been a blessing to me .

    my migraines

I have had migraines all my life i am now 30 and i had 1 aug 2007 now 1 last week and 1 last night, i find axert helps a little, it makes it shorter... i have classic migraines so sometimes the other symptoms other then the pain are even more terrible (scary) now i get the phase that comes over me during my migraines of not knowing words well or names,it is hard to say proper sentences, very scary, but i tell myself it will pass, and try to stay calm, it doesnt help that i have a history of panic disorder.
But i liked Imatax myself... and i find if you can get massages every now and then get them!! They will help, and anything that relaxe you! Look into Reiki.

    cause of my headache

I have ostroarthritis and bone spurs in my neck, rarely have a headache, I fell. and didn't have anything to suppor myself, and fell flat on my but and jarred my head, and neckmjerked back. headache was violent. Dr. xrayed y neck. no fracture, Head still hurts after 4 days. I have never had a migraine headsche, and rx was $149.95, and I couldn't afford it. My HMO will pay for lortab.talwin, or percocet.

This medication does not do the same job for me as Imitrex. I almost feel as though I'm taking a placebo. 25 mg Imitrex almost always knocked the headache within 40 minutes. 12.5 Axert doesn't seem to do anything. I was informed by my insurance company that they would no longer support Imitrex and that Axert was the best substitute and would work as well as Imitrex. I have not found this to be the case.

    migraine headaches

My doctor gave me some samples to try for my migraine headaches and it works wonderful. I have suffered migraines for over 35 years and today found out that my HMO formulary does not cover the cost of the medication. I asked the pharmacist about the cost and he told me it is over $20.00 per pill. This cost is too much for my budget, but I do need this. I only get headaches when the barametric pressure drops, so when it is Monsoon season, they are continuous. I need to know if there is a generic medicine that will do the same thing for me. I have Pacific Care HMO. I would appreciate any help you can give me. I have had CAT scans and thorough physicals.

I've taken Imitrex in the past and it's gotten to where that doesn't work so well. I generally end up having a migraine 3 days in a roll and have to take the Imitrex. Then my doctor prescribed Axert. My reaction is totally different. I get a cold nose and feel sleepy, but my headaches go away. Unfortunately my insurance doesn't want to cover it until I go through a whole regime of other medicines to make sure they don't work. It's all about the amount of money it costs them. They don't care if I have to take 3 days off from work.

I took Imitrex for years, seemed to lose effectiveness. My doctor gave me Axert and it worked great in the beginning then it too started to lose it's effect. My new insurance does not cover cost of Axert, approx. $22 USD per pill. Went back to Imitrex. When I metioned to my pharmacist that Axert seemed to have stopped working, she said she had heard that same comment from others. For me is seems best to alternate the drugs, so you don't get used to the formula.

I love this medicine!!! I have suffered with migraines since I was 16 years old, I'm now 37. I just started taking them about 6 months ago. They are absolutely wonderful. Within 30 minutes the headache is gone and I am back to doing my daily routines of being a wife, mother and a full time employee. While it is expensive it is definitely worth every penny!!!

I have had migraines for years and I have taken everything from Zomig to Immitrax to Maxalt and Axert was the only one that did not give me any and I mean NO side effects...It is a great drug...And it works!!!!I highly recommend it to anyone with migraines...

I have suffered from Migraines since I was a child. Told my doctor about them and he tried me on Axert. My migraine were lasting 1 day to 3 days. I would lay in bed where it was dark and quiet and pray the pain would go away. Any movement and I would be sick to my stomache. When I took the pill for the first time I couldn't believe within 30 minutes the sickness was gone and the pain in my head was gone. What a wonderful drug.

I agree that Axert is wonderful. If it does not work I end up int he ER with an IV of Toradol. I have a 80% success rate with Axert but I have at least 5 to 8 attacks a month. Even with the mail in the price is very expensive and I run out before my time is up. I have to be very selective how I use it for I have so many attacks. I have had migraines for over 30 years and tried all the medications out there, Axert is wonderful but the price is forcing me to cut back on other things that that I should be able to afford.

I have taken axert a couple times and it makes my head tingly numb, but it got rid of the migraine and left me drowsy. Excedrine is my first choice and if that dont work then I go to axert, it always picks up where excedrine leaves off.

Axert works in about 30 minutes for most migraines. I get the most relief from this medication, espically if I can rest for 20 min upon taking the medication. However, under extreme conditions the migraine returns every 24 hours. It takes 3-5 days before the headache subsides. No bleeding. Dry-mouth often. Felt tightness in chest only once.

took axert for the first tme 10/15/03 due to severe migraine,
i experienced bloody, dry nose the next day, also had tightness in chest 1 hr after taking-had a diuretic effect on me through the night & i had some ibs the next morning but it took away the headache!

i been on axert about two years and it helps me better than any other migrane mediation iever took.the migrane goes away in thirty mins. to an hour.the only thing i worry about has anybody had any bleeding in mouth or any were in their body ? THANK YOU, sincerly:

I have taken Axert for the past few months - usually it works within about an hour, but I find that a day later I have the tightness in my chest. I have taken Imitrex and it does work faster, but I am satisfied with the way Axert takes care of my migraine.

I tried Imitrex and others and they all caused hangovers and tight chest and were not very pleasant. Axert, although expensive, is a life savor for me. I can no longer take Exedrin because of the caffeine, so I love Axert. I would be lost without it.

axert occassionally worked to subdue my mild headaches, though no more often than hydration, sleep, or food. It never touched any of my migraines.

    Wonder Med

I think Axert is a miracle med....I have suffered for years with migraines...been on every preventive med, natural solutions, etc. I finally was able to take Axert as I was off all other meds..... within 45 mins my pain is gone!!!!!!! I write today 8:09am i took the med and by 8:50 the pain and all other symptoms gone. The only side effect I have is drowsiness......Thank you!
