About Azopt
Azopt is used to treat increased pressure in the eye.
Precautions for Azopt
- Your vision may be temporarily blurred after using Azopt. Do not drive a car or operate heavy machinery until you know how you will react to Azopt.
- Azopt can be absorbed by soft contact lenses. Lenses should be removed before using Azopt and may be replaced in the eyes 15 minutes after using Azopt.
- If you have serious kidney problems, Azopt may not be right for you.
Side Effects of Azopt
- blurred vision (see general precautions)
- bitter, sour, or unusual taste
- discomfort or eye pain
- foreign body sensation in the eye
- redness of the eye
- dry eye
- headache

All of them, I am sorry to say, have caused serious side effects. The last but one, Lumigan, caused sever sweling in my legs, ankles and feet (gout-like symptoms but tests show I don't have gout) after a week. It took five weeks for the swelling to go down and then I was prescribed Azopt. I now have extreme pain in my right leg, in the buttock, particularly in the knee and also in the ankle making walking extremely painful.Before I started using eye drops I had no problems.I am 73. While thee the in hospital pharmacy gave me Trusopt inplace of Azopt. Is this acceptable practice? Should I try the subtitute?

Is it possible that azopt can have a sinergic effect with anti- diabetic therapy ?Anonymous azopt May 12th, 2008 Rating: Not Rated my son is 8 years old and has just been prescribed azopt eye drops for swelling in the back of the eye, he has retinitis pigmentosa. having collected the drops from the pharmacist i read in the leaflet that it should not be used in patients under 18. should my 8 year old been using them?
