About Micardis
Micardis is used to treat high blood pressure. It may be used alone or with other drugs to treat high blood pressure.
Precautions for Micardis
- When taken together with digoxin, Micardis can raise the amount of digoxin in your blood. If you are taking digoxin your doctor will monitor your digoxin levels and may need to adjust the dose.
- If you are being treated with diurectics (water pills), watch for signs of low blood pressure, such as dizziness or fainting. If you experience any of these signs, contact your health care provider right away for treatment. You can still continue being treated with Micardis.
- Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding a child.
Side Effects of Micardis
When side effects occur they are generally mild and do not last long. Some possible side effects include:
- Cold-like symptoms
- Back pain
- Sinus inflammation
- Diarrhea
- Sore throat

Water and Suppliments
Since we are on this medication and it effects the balance of water in your body it can cause a lot of annoying symptoms if you aren't drinking liquids and taking Vitamins. If this medication is giving you icky side effects try to change your diet. To include these two things and you will be surprised. Or not. Who knows! LOL :D

No Side Effects
:) I've read so may threads of people complaining of side effects. I have been on this med for two + weeks after trying ACE Inhibitors, Beta Blockers, Sedatives, etc. etc. and is't like my life is so much better already! Why are so many people complaining of side effects? I'm confused. AND I'm sorry. I hope this isn't some sort of "honeymoon period" for me.... Karen

Micardis is the reconmended medication for first line treatment
With the New Hypertensive guidelines The usage of ARB inclusive of Micardis is known to be used as the first liner theraphy now. Basically this group (ARB) will have a huge data on Heart & End organ protection minus off the dry cough and other side effect. I know where to get this medication at low prices as well medicationtoyou.com

Also my doctor didn't tell me i should not take colds medicine with micardis. when i had colds and took tylenol colds non drowsy i was dizzy for a whole day. What other medicine or food should i avoid when taking micardis? my brother who is also hypertensive said his doctor told him to stop eating grapefruit or drink its juice because it has side effects when taken with a medicine for hypertension.

side affects
I am 47 & have taken Micardis for 4 days. On the 4th day in the afternoon, my joints started to ache like I am catching the flu, also I feel like I am running a temperature. My legs are hurting so much it is hard for me to walk without pain. My Doctor is only in the office 2 days a week so I will have to wait to see him 1 more day. I am thinking about not taking my medication at least for 1 day to see what the results are.

Have taken Micardis for 8 or 9 months. Got so bad at 80mg, I feel like I have a severe case of the flu every day of my life. Will cut dosage to 40mg and see what happens.

micardis HCT
Dr. just put me on this stuff, starting tomorrow. Was taking Lisinopril. That lowered my BP down to 126/82 after only a month and a half. Had my next visit and told him it made me cough quite abit when I started it, the coughing seemed to cease quite abit after getting use to the Lis. So he switched me to this, after reading this I wonder if I really want to be on this stuff. I'll give it 2 weeks, if side effects are bad I'll switch back and call the DR and tell him.
Lisinopril- 5.00 co-pay
Micardis HCT- 20.00 co-pay.
Guess I know why the switch.

Micardis side affect
I've been on Micartis for one year. I began to have bradycardia with irregular heart beats. I eventually had a nuclear stress test and camera pictures of the heart. The cardiologist said that nothing wrong could be found. I got on the internet and eventually discovered that heart palpitations was a possible side affect for micartis. After a three day taper off from micardis I completely stopped taking this high BP medicine. Suddenly I no longer have the debilitating irregular heart beats which were happening nearly every day. My blood pressure has also been fine at near 120/70 for the past week.

Thank you for all the emails I have read. I started taking Micardis 40 mg about 2 weeks ago. I experienced very bad dizzy spells when laying on my back, red eyes, bad foul taste along with acid reflux. It seems many of the users of this drug has the same side effects. I stopped taking this medication and I am presently taking Toprol XL 50 mg. I hope this will keep my BP lowered. Again, I thank all of you for your questions and helping me not feel as I'm was going CRAZY.

micardis and back pain?
My mom, age 72, was put on Torpol after having a cough from her previous blood pressure medication. So far, she has done well. She has been on the medicine for about 6 weeks. She has recently begun complaining about back pain, right over her kidneys. Just wondering if anyone else who is on it had the same experience. I worry about her kidney's being damaged as a side effect. Don't know if the pain is a kidney issue, a result of daily strain or the drug. I'm wondering what we need to look out for. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Wishing you all good health!

micardis drug
i have started taking micardis today and after reading the comments, i am not sure i want it after all. i have two sinus surgeries in May and the other one 2 weeks ago and tonsillectomy 2 weeks ago. I went to casulaty with pains from behind my eyes and a blood pressure reading of 191/107. I was given a patch to lower the b/p which helped, but today it is up again, 160/100, that is when the doctor put me on this drug. if it dries out your throat and causes numbness, i had numbness already on the rt. side of my face xmas eve. i spent 4 hours in casualty. I also have pernicious anaemia, diagnosed 4 months ago and on neocytmen injections every month, plus taking 5mg folate acid. i have have chronic rhinosinusitus and now hypertension. Where does this all end. I also read it has caused gastric upsets and Iam due to have a colonscopy and endoscopy in 2 weeks for query atrophic gastritis, chron's disease or whatever thy might find. AHVE ALSO BEENON NATIBIOTICS FOR THE LAST 18 MONTHS DUE TO CHRONIC SINUS PROBLEMS. SHULD I BE TAKING ANY MORE DRUGS. HELLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP.

Micartis and TriCor
Been on Micartis with HTZ for over 2 years now. Recently doctor has added
TriCor for triglycerides. I've experienced leg cramps nightly severe enough to wake me from deep sleep. Complained to doctor and had Quinine prescribed which seems to stop the cramps. However, now the problem seems to be a high sugar level all of a sudden. Am going to check this out this week. Anybody out there who has these two drugs combined and having a high sugar level in the blood... hello diabetes....I sure hope not.

alcohol
When reviewing this medication, it states to let your MD know if you are drinking alcohol with this med. Has anyone learned about what the effects are? I have a dear friend who has started taking this, yet is also an alcohol in denial. Please respond if you know any info!!!

micardis
My dr switched me to micardis about 2 weeks ago. Since then I been having trouble sleeping and I get up about every two hours to go to the bathroom. Anyone else have this trouble? After reading other comments I realized some of my trouble that I thought were related to something else actually are from the micardis i.e. back pain, acid reflux, dizziness. Those of you who stopped taking it what else where you put on that gave you the same results as micardis?

side effects
I, too, had a numbness and pain, in my hands, feet, and legs. I gained 11 pounds within a very short period of time.
When I lost my job, I lost all benefits. I had to stop taking my medicince because of cost.
I lost the weight, as fast I gained it. The joint pain and muscle pain is gone as well as the numbness.
The numbness caused me to fall more than usual. I could not feel the bottoms of my feet.
My pressure is still high, but until I get insurance..I can't afford perscriptions.

High BP
Hey I been useing Micardis 40mg to treat my high bnlood pressuer for teh past 4 years. Up untill a month ago my BP was fine between 120 and 130 on anything between 60 to 80diastolic.
But for some strange reason my BP has started to go through the roof , i been getting reading 180 on 90 160 on 100 175 on 104, i seen the cardiologist he checked my heart with is fine, i had a kidney scane which is also fine so the started me on Micardis 80mg and the readings are still high and the drug is not controlling my BP liek it used to. Over all Micardis was a good and effective drug with little sideeffects and I woudl give it 10 out of 10 for effectiveness. I just hope that Mocardis plus will work in gettin my BP down .
