  • If you have not noticed any benefit from taking Pletal after 12 weeks, talk to your health care provider.
  • While taking Pletal, avoid drinking grapefruit juice.

Who Should Not Take Pletal

You must not take Pletal if you have congestive heart failure of any severity. Talk with your health care provider about whether you have this condition.

I write from Poland.I would like to buy Pletal for my mam, How can I get address for commpany which produce Pletal.

Noticed effect(s)

I started taking Pletal four weeks ago,and noticed on the first 24-hour period after taking the first dose that I could lie on my side in bed without feeling my legs go to sleep.Yesterday was the first big improvement in walking.I felt like there was a booster in my legs as I was walking in a mall.It was rather pleasant to have that sensation for the first time in years.I usually had to take care not to walk in malls and stores for over a few minutes at a time because of the stiffness that would grow strong enough to make me have to stop, and sometimes have me feeling that I'd need to ask for help.I chose Pletal over having stents implanted in my arteries, and I'm really glad to find that it works.

pletal side effects

Could pletal produce strange smells as a side effect.

Pletal benefits

AAfter being on 100mg 2x daily Pletal for about 16 months I wasn't sure it was helping me so I stopped it for about 5 months. I have recently restarted it with doctor's encouragement and believe it is helping me. I have no problem with the timing as taking it on an empty stomach is the key. When I am up for a bathroom call from 5 to 6 AM I sometimes take the AM dose then. The bedtime does is no problem as I take other Rxs then. I am pushing myself to do more walking and try to walk through the pain. I have very few side effects: some morning headaches usually respond to a pain medicine, and my bowels are more loose but not diarrhea.

pletal side effects

Been on pletal for about 7-8 months. (along with Lipitor) Has helped with circulation in legs, but now taking avelox for a sinus infection, and something is causing irregular heartbeats and strong palpitations in my sleep.

Pletal says not to take with erythamician antibiotic, but what about avelox? Also, Avelox says not to take with heart medications, but does this include Pletal?

If anyone has had similar experiences, please let me know.

Other side effects from one of these drugs includes, sinus problems and headaches and neck pains.

Been on it only 2 weeks

I am in my mid eighties. Soon will go on Kidney dialysis. I can not walk more than half a block to get severe claudication on the leg that has only 22 % circulatoon, the other is not as bad. I seem only to be able mostly to sit or rest. other Meds I take are Adalat, Imdur, Lasix. Also have severe insomnia, Restoril lets me sleep a little. I take Iron and Procit. Have to take stool softener for the iron, so the Pletal does not have a worse effect on my bowels, may be alittle looser. I take 100 mg of Pletal twice a day, I hope for relief so I can walk without all the pain.

Noticed Effects

I suffer from severe arterial deficiency due to calcification resulting in 90% occlusion in the left leg and 70% in the right. I had been taking 5 mg daily of Coumadin to help increase blood flow. Additionally, I walked until it hurt and then some as often as possible to grow additional arteries at the doctor's suggestion. HBO therapy was tried various times for the same reason. Still, I had to take 40 mg twice daily of Oxycontin and 10 mg of Lorcet as needed (usually 120 mg daily) for the breakthrough pain.

In April the vascular surgeon that is treating me thought my toes and immediately joining tissue of the left foot were so bad that they might need to be amputated. Additionally the large toe had a very bad infection. So he sent me to a foot surgeon in the hopes he could do something for me. The nail of the large toe had to be removed. Good thing because the infection turned out to be fungal and was easily treated. (Distorted nail from lack of circulation made it impossible to see before.) He also suggested that I take 100 mg of Pletal twice a day to see if it would help my circulation.

I discussed it first with the vascular surgeon. He didn't think it would help any more than the Coumadin but agreed that it couldn't hurt. So I started taking 100 mg of Pletal twice a day.

Slowly I was able to walk longer distances, increasing from 200 feet in April up to 500 feet in September before severe pain set in. Since it increased so gradually, the vascular surgeon and I thought it was more likely due to my walking as much as possible. The foot surgeon agreed but thought that the Pletal was helping as well.

The beginning of September I went to El Salvador for a month to visit with some old friends from my Embassy days there. I forgot to refill the Pletal before leaving and ran out after the first week. Further, Pletal is not available in El Salvador. After a week I noticed that I was starting to feel pain after walking shorter distances. By the time I returned the first week of October, I was back to walking 200 feet before severe pain set in. I refilled my Pletal prescription as soon as I got back and now, one month later, I am back up to about 400 feet of walking before severe pain sets in.

So, Platel does work, at least for me. I proved the hard way that it just wasn't exercise and the HBO therapies. In the future, I will make sure that I am never without my Pletal for more than a few days.

I have been taking Pletal for some months. With my last Rx order I was given a $10 rebate coupon, which I have submitted with proof of purchase to Patient Guide Rebate, PO Box 29255, Shawnee Mission KS 66201-9563. It was returned by the post office as "undeliverable". Can you give me any word concerning this offer and/or address? Betty Meloy

Taking pletal with food

Sirs,

I find it extremely difficult to remember to take Pletal on an empty stomach.(1 hour before, or 2 to 3 hours after meals.) I am very good at taking all my other medications with meals. Question: Will I get theraputic effects if I DO NOT take pletal on an empty stomach? Will the therapy be compromised if I take it with my other medications at meals?

Thanks for any guidence you can giver me.

Pletal and Macular Degeneration

Since Pletal allows blood to flow more freely in the viens is it wrong to take Pletal when you have the wet form of Macular Degeneration? One really doesn't want to make bleeding more likely. Recently before a colonoscopy the Physician said that he wouldn't be able to remove polops if they were encountered because Pletal would promote bleeding.

Pletal headaches

What over-the-counter pain medications are most effective for headaches caused by Pletal? I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

pletal side effect

I have been taking Pletal(100mg & 100mg) for about 3 weeks and for the past couple of days I have been having severe pain in my kidneys to the point that I can' get up from a chair. I did not take it today, I wonder if I should stop altoghether or just lower the dose to just 50mg and 50mg?
ps: I haven't felt any difference in my legs yet.
Thank you for your help in this
Ana

pletal

My doctor starting me on this medicine after I had been hosptialized with a blood clot in my leg.
The leaflet that they gave with the medicine was not very informative.
I didn't know that it was used to help with leg pains.

But I did find out the hard way that It will cause increased heartrate and chest pains and that a side affect that do occur that aren't mentioned are exess blotting, stomach pains, heartracing, chest pains, neverous jitters, not being able to stay still and a feeling of jumping out of your skin.

I had these reactions after being on this medicine for a week. We know it was this medicine because it was the only new medicine I was put on.

I had to make an unscheduled Dr's appointment to get medicine to counter these side affects so I could function again.

Although it did stop the leg pains all these unwanted side effects in my oppion makes it useless and it cost over $100 for a 30 day supply which was a waste of money for me.

I feel there needs to be more research into this medicine before any more people suffer even worse side affect that this.

I have been taking pletal for 4 weeks and now I am starting to get a burning on the bottom of my left foot while I am sleeping. Has anyone else had this happen?

Pletal side effects

I take 100 mg pletal twice per day; I also take diltiazem 240 mg
once daily which seems to overincrease the benefits of Pletal. Legs appear to be puffy. If I only take 1/2 (50 mg) twice per day), there is no adverse reaction. I would like to know what other adverse interactions are possible with other medications as I take 12 other prescriptions.

Overall I would say the benefits of Pletal are excellent; I am able to walk longer distances without claudication.
