Provigil from outside sources

Is it ok to purchase from online pharmacies (like Canada, etc)? This stuff is incredibly expensive form my pharmacist (about $10/200mgtab) and I don't have insurance...Any word when Nuvgil will hit the market and about what it will cost? It looks a lot cheaper, from what I've seen so far.Thanks..

Proviil with Prozac

I have just started taking Provigil (along with Levothyroxine for thyroid) and Prozac. Has anyone encountered problems with this combination? After a couple days on the Provigil,I feel great but am concerned with the Prozac possibly diminishing these results...Thanks

Provigil & Miscarriage

I was diagnosed with narcolepsy in summer of 2002. I started on a low dosage and then was moved up 400mg a day. In January of 2003 I found I was carrying a set of twins. Immidiately I stopped my medication. In April of 2003 I had a miscarriage. Doctors said there was no explanation. In December of 2003 I found out I was again expecting again I stopped taking my meds. Today 2/20/04, I lost my baby again. Both pregnancies I was taking my medicine for the first month because I was not aware that I was pregnant. I have had 3 children prior to my diagnosis of narcolepsy or treatment with provigil. I need to know why my babies are dying!! We don't want to keep going through this but like most of you. I need this medicine to make it through the day. Please reply if anything similar has happened to you. Thanks in advance.

I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea. Even though it is mild, I am extremely sleepy during the day. I am not sure if the apnea is causing this or not. My doctor just prescribed me Provigil. I haven't started taking it yet, but I need to know if it is really going to help me. Basically, I need to know which is worse, excessive sleepiness or side effects of Provigil? Could someone give me their opinion?

provigil and dehydration

My Shrink put me on provigil recently: 200 mg in the morning, followed by 100 mg in the mid-afternoon. It stimulates me, stops my fatigue, yet doesn't interfere with m,y sleeping hours. However, I've been urinating more than usual, and now have a swollen tongue and mouth sores. Must be dehydration. I tried cutting down to 100 mg every 3 days or so, but that isn't the way it was prescribed. I must stop this medication, despite the fact that it helped my fatigue-like depression when other meds didn't. Am very dismayed.

My doctor reccomended Provigil due to severe fatigue from 22 years of rhumatoid arthritis. I have not started taking it yet and I am wondering if anyone knows if it's beneficial for fatigue from arthritis?

I am on PROVIGIL for MS and I have never felt better I have dropped 30 pounds and I no longer sleep 8-10 hours a night and or require a nap. I also was wondering if it helped other things because I feel better than I have felt in years and that is the only thing I have added to my Medications.

I began taking 100mg. Provigil once a day for tiredness resulting from MS. About that same time, I developed low back pain, that has gotten MUCH worse. I don't know if it is from the MS or Provigil. Tomorrow I will stop the Provigil - just to see if the back pain stops.

Love to help

fibromyaligia and provigil

I've asked my doctor to put me on provigil for my years of fatigue. I've been tested for anemia and everything else. Will this drug perk me up? I'm so tired of being tired. Thank-you

advise please

For the last 15yrs I've done the on again off again cycle of anti-depressants. Each drug working to an extent but never long term or controling matters completely. Within the the last 3yrs preceding the birth of my last child, irritablity, fatigue, depression, memory glitches, and unwanted suicidel thoughts, at an increase. I begged for more testing. MS was ruled out. MRI showed small lessions on a temporal area of the brain coinciding with that of drepressed patients. A question of narcylypsy still unanswered. Dr. diagnosed bi-polar with rapid cycling....(too long to remember.) I had been feeling some relief with Prozac , but the body always seems to bypass it after awhile. Just recently taken myself off of it. Irritability on the rise, and craving sleep. Would love to insert toothpicks in my eyelids to keep them open. Driving is difficult at times. Usually have to pull off and doze for about 15min. in order to continue. My children don't understand. Nor my husband. Within the last year I was perscribed the Rx "Provigil". Upon having it filled I had to decline the purchase because of its cost. No insurance. I still would like to give it a try. Judging from all the comments it sounds worth it, but I'd still like to know if there's anyone with these symtoms on provigil and having any success. Also I don't do well with caffine. I am afraid provigil may exhibit that anxiousness. I deal with that feeling by lying down and sleeping it away.

My son recently had to withdraw from college becuase he was sleeping 18-20 hours a day and unable to keep up with his studies. He is 19 years old. He was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea in May, which has slightly alleviated the problem of sleepiness, but not well enough. He was put through a second more thorough sleep study last week, and diagnosed with narcolepsy, and prescribed Provigil. We are now in a battle with the insurance company, which refuses to pay for the medication. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to go about trying to get the medications paid for?

My husband has been taking lots of different medications for manic depression. When he found himself falling asleep at stop lights, in the middle of conversations etc. and wanting to nap all throughout the day he felt it was time to take yet another medication to help him with this problem as well. After taking 200mg of Provigil daily for about 2 months he started to make clicking sounds with his mouth. Pretty soon his tongue was moving about constantly and getting in the way causing him to bite his tongue several times a day. His speech was being effected due to his figity tongue as well. His doctor told him to stop the provigil right away. Now after 8-10 weeks his tongue is still doing its thing but not as much so I guess there's improvement that way. Has this been a problem for anyone else? I found these to be very strange symptoms.

I take welbutrin and lexapro for depression and panic attacks. I also have alot of fatigue, My doctor has not been able to find what is causing the fatigue other than thinking it is from my depression. ALL my test have come back normal. A week ago , my doctor started me on 100mil. of provigil for the fatigue. My problem is every other day i feel great then the next i am worn out. Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone tell me what you think is the reason for this?, thanks

I am using Provigil for fatigue related to multiple sclerosis. It has helped a lot. However, I was having trouble with nervousness, even at the low dose of 100 mg. I then started taking 1/2 caplet twice a day. I have been taking it intermittently since 2000.

I have also experienced difficulty sleeping. I am often awake until 2 or 3am, resulting in only 3-4 hours sleep. Caffine-containing products and alcohol are also avoided when I take Provigil

I have tried taking the Provigil only on days that I will have increased demands; however, my neurologist states I should be taking it every day.

Any suggestions on how to get the desired benefits without these side-effects?

Has anyone taken Provigil while also taking an anti-depressant? I'm supposed to take Wellbutrin 150 mg, along with 200 mg Provigil? Any thoughts.

I was diagnosed with supine sleep apnea (only occurs while on my back), after a sleep study done a month and a half ago. I was also told that I have serious signs of narcolepsy, but the doctor was hesitant to label me. He did give me provigil. I took it for a week and initially fealt great, more energy, production, happier. After a few days of adjusting I realized that the headache was not going away, and that I started feeling sleepy on the drug. My mind would rest for 3-4 hours a night instead of my usual 8-10, but my body was running out of gas much earlier. I had obsessions combined with a psychological issue that tore me apart. I broke down emotionally and took myself off of the drug.

I quit this drug

I was on Provigil for about 8 months, I started having a numb senation around my left ear, and I was having trouble reading small print, This was all new to me, I called my Doctor and went in for a check up, I had to under go tests for Temporal Arteritis, this was checked by blood tests, and and Cat scan, I felt horrible. The Doctor has since taken me off this medication, and Im starting to feel better, It's a slow process. But I was very upset and had to wait days to get the reports back from the tests I under went. Please be careful of this drug. Im not using it ever again. I'll sleep late, and not worry about not having the energy to get up early.
I could have lost my eye sight. Thats scary.

heart problems

I just started taking Provigil and have NEVER had high blood pressure in my life and NOW have very high readings and a recent echo @ the dr's office and it came back abnormal for hypertension and enlargement of my heart.

I am now on Topol and arent feeling any better. Still have dizziness and almost fainting... as well as severe headaches...Ive cut out caffeine completely but still no results after a week.

Is there any link with Provigil and blood pressure and or enlargement of the heart?

Anyone who can help.. I would greatly appreciate it.
