Default Why would anyone take Abilify?

I just watched the Abilify commercial on tv again, and once more find myself asking why anyone would take a drug with so many precautions and possible side effects, both life threatening and permanently impairing. I am depressed on a daily basis, and though undiagnosed, feel I am mostly like bi-polar - manic/depressive. I do not take any medications, and I do not see that I would ever take such an unsafe drug. I could probably fell better if I took an anti-depressant, but choose not to. I do not want to be a zombie, which is what I see when I look at some of my friends and family members who use anti-depressants - they are half of who they are. I think as a society, we are just too quick to pick up a pill.
