Default son with Asperger's Syndrome on Risperdal

My son was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome when he was 8-years old. When he was 10, his mood swings became physically violent. His psychiatrist prescribed Risperdal. It helped moderate the mood swings, but he gained a lot of weight. He is now 12-years old and is 5-9 and 200 pounds. He stopped taking Risperdal, at his request, about 4 monthes ago because he was getting teased about his size. Maybe because his is older, but he is able to manage his mood better on his own and is not as aggressive as he was when he was younger. I would say to anyone considering Risperdal for their child, just watch the side effects. I don't know what we would have done without it.
