Default statins

I've taken many different statins. All have side effects which I'm unable to tolorate. My doctor has just prescribed Welchol. I've just read a comment by Peggy Hartsfield that Welchol may be the cause of her muscle weakness worsening. Muscle weakness and aching along with Fatigue Syndrome are the main reasons I've stopped taking all the statins. It seems there is no medication to lower my cholestrol that I can tolorate. I've just heard about Aceon an Ace Inhibitor. Anyone have experience with it?

Jerry Sitner

Jerry, Welchol is not absorbed in your blood stream and does not pass through the liver or kidneys it works in the stomach. drugs that are absorbed sometimes cause muscle aches and fatigue.

Sure...thats what my doc said too! But here's the facts: took welchol, spasms in muscles of legs increasingly long and painful developed. Stopped welchol, spasms stopped. End of story... No other change in my activity or my other meds. Coincidence? I think not.
Default Welchol muscle problems

I too am on Welchol and have severe muscle problems.
But I have been on statins for 10 years prior.
The muscle pain, wasting and weakness caused by statins do not go away.
Mine are permanent muscle damage.
I'd like to know how many people who are complaining about muscle pain, while using Welchol, have used statins in the past.
Sankyo who produces Welchol claims they have no reports of muscle pain from use of Welchol.
I suggest complaints be made to Sankyo to get it on record.
They will not investigate the problem without complaints.
We should also go after the producers of statins.
They are brushing off the problem.
They will not consider damage claims unless death occurs from liver failure. They're not interested in the massive complaints of muscle damage.
Please respond with your observations and comments.
