Default Bad batch of insulin???

I have been on Lantus for about a year, and things have gone well until 4 days ago when I started using a new bottle of Lantus. My numbers shot up considerably. I always keep it refrigerated, so the problem isn't there. My diet is the same, I'm not pregnant or sick either. Has anyone ever had a bad batch of Lantus? Any other ideas? Thanks!

I have a suspicion from time to time that the effectivness varies from vial to vial of Lantus. I always refrigerate mine and have gone almost 60 days on a vial with no perceivable degregation.

I have been on lantus for almost a year now, and have noticed some variances from vial to vial. I often have to adjust it up or down as much as 8 units. It usually takes 2 days to notice a difference between vials. It is supposed to be consistant, but since we have no way of knowing what conditions it was subjected to before we got it........ Hmm.

My wife had such problems and had to do with her cycle time around her period. This became a problem as she got older.

I had a bad batch of Regular a few years ago, that sent my blood sugars lower than they have ever been. I called Lilly to talk to them about it and they pretty much told me that "bad batches" don't exist. I don't believe them!

Default insulin reactions

I basically have the same set of difficulties. I use Lantus and Novalog. I have found that my stress levels dramatically effect my sugar levels. One of the more serious problems I have is going low (33 last week, 417 three weeks ago). I experience lows, below 70, ten to fifteen times each week with the same basic diet and exercise or identical heavy physical work.

I do not believe the insulin effectivness varies from bottle to bottle.

Good hunting,

My pharmacist, a close friend, also feels there is tight uiniformity in the insulin.

Default Lantus gone bad

Yes, I have had this problem. I was just searching on the internet about how Lantus expires too soon. I have had to throw out a bottle on the 10th day of use. After I threw it out my BG's went back to normal again. It's just like milk, it can expire early or later and the only way to tell is an unexplainable high BG reading!

Default Lantus

Absolutely, I have 1 bottle of Lantus in the fridge that was no good. Don't use that bottle anymore. Go figure. I began using Humalog for dinner meals a couple of days ago and it doesn't work, takes 4 hours to work somewhat. I'm wondering if its no good. Also the Lantus doesn't seem to be working right either. I am weary all I want is good sugar. I feel like the Humalog is canceling out the Lantus.

Shelley
